The Universal Audio LA-610 MKII is a second-generation redesign of the original 2005 LA-610 model. While the preamp and compressor are similar to the original LA-610 that consumers have grown to know and love, user-requested improvements such as real compressor bypass, bigger metering, better output signal, and an auto-sensing power supply have been added, providing the end user with an improved user experience. The LA-610 Mk II retains the LA-610 Signature Edition’s popular “black on black” cosmetics.

The LA-610 Mk2 is based on the iconic console modules created by Bill Putnam in the 1960s. These preamps are well-known for their musical character and warmth, having been used to record innumerable masterpieces ranging from Sinatra to Van Halen. Following the preamp portion, the LA-610 Mk II has the T4 optical compressor.

The LA-610 T4 compressor’s easy operation and program-dependent nature give the same incredibly melodic control that has made the LA-2A such a popular classic for over 40 years. The Teletronix LA-2A’s heart and soul is the electro-optical detector, sometimes known as the “T4 cell”. The unique mix of electroluminescent panels and photo-resistors inside the T4 cell is the critical circuit components that give both compressors their distinct sound.
