The Magnetimus 2 is a strong contender for Tegeler’s most adaptable device, as it was originally designed to handle transient-rich sounds like drums, synthesizers, and acoustic guitars. It combines a contemporary, adaptable VCA compressor with a downstream transient shaper. The end effect is a deep, rich sound that better integrates tracks into the mix, comparable to a tape recording.

Transient shaper

The transient shaper does more than just modify the level of the transients; it also smooths them out, similar to a tape machine. The three distinct Flux Modes (Eisen, Kobalt, and Nickel) will send your signal via various transformers that simulate the saturation of tapes composed of iron, cobalt, and nickel.

VCA Compressor

The first stage has a strong VCA compressor with Threshold, Timing, Ratio, and Make-Up Gain settings. The Magnetismus 2, like its sibling Creme, can compress any stereo signal to guarantee that the peaks are suppressed without reducing the dynamic range of your mix. More importantly, it can and should be used to “glue” mixtures together.

Modi

The Flux Mode does this by gently adjusting the time frame for the processed transients, resulting in the transient being rounded more or less depending on the width of the transients. The Intensity slider controls how much the transient shaping changes the original signal, allowing you to fine-tune your envelope.

Transformer stage

The second transformer at the output provides more density, allowing you to boost your modified as much as you desire, providing that last punch that a mix occasionally requires.
Using more severe settings, the Magnetismus 2 may also be highly useful in creative sound design, crushing or destructing audio signals; it can be used as a very simple drum smasher, for example.

Signal Flow

Because the VCA compressor may be utilized individually, the Magnetimus 2 is also appropriate for processing sum signals, acting as a bus compressor, or even as a mastering compressor. Whatever audio artwork you wish to create, the Magnetismus 2 is the ideal canvas.
