Universal Audio 6176 Overview:

The Universal Audio 6176 is a tube channel strip that combines the classic 610 microphone preamp and the famed 1176 compressor. The 6176 is the ideal analog front-end for digital audio recording, because to its extremely versatile tone, function, and ultra-quiet operation.

The Universal Audio 6176 combines two pro audio legends: the 610 mic/line tube preamp and the 1176LN solid-state compressor/limiter, to produce what might be the ultimate channel strip. The preamp section is loaded with features, including mic, line, and hi-Z inputs, two bands of shelving EQ, and a 15 dB pad. The dynamics section retains all of the traditional characteristics found on the vintage 1176LN. Each unit has its ins and outs and may be utilized alone in Split mode or series in Join mode via a front-panel switch. Handcrafted in Universal Audio’s Scotts Valley, California facilities, the 6176 provides weapons-grade build quality and vibrant sound character at an affordable price.

The 1176LN Limiting Amplifier, based on Bill Putnam’s 176 tube compressor, is a flexible and powerful instrument in the current era of dynamics processing. Its ultra-fast attack and release timings, sonic malleability, and Class A output stage with a unique overwound transformer produce excellent musical results. UA recreated the 1176LN for the 6176’s compressor section, giving it a flexible and powerful instrument for any signal. It’s all-in “Nuke Mode” makes bass sound massive, and it’s ideal for bringing vocalists to the forefront of a mix. When paired with the Putnam 610 mic preamp, the 1176LN creates the ideal channel strip for any studio.
